Pawn loans are one of the oldest and most regulated forms of credit. Here’s how they actually work.
Do you run a credit check?
Never. A pawn loan is secured by your item, not your credit history. It doesn’t appear on any credit report — repaid or not.
How much can I get for my item?
That depends on the item in your hands — its condition, model and today’s market. Bring it in and you’ll have a real, no-obligation offer in minutes. If you’d rather call ahead, we’re happy to talk it through at 587-391-4364.
What happens to my item during the loan?
It’s tagged, stored securely and insured on site. Nobody wears it, plays it or plugs it in. Repay the loan and it comes home exactly as you left it.
What if I can’t repay on time?
Talk to us — extensions are often possible. We’d always rather see you keep your item, and we send reminder texts before anything comes due.
Is this legal and regulated?
Fully. We’re licensed under Alberta’s Pawn Brokers Act and FINTRAC-compliant, with government ID required for every transaction.
Do you buy items outright?
No — everything we do is a pawn loan, and that’s deliberately better for you. You walk out with the same cash an outright sale would give you, but you keep something a sale never offers: the option to get your item back. There’s no obligation to reclaim it — if you choose not to, the loan simply settles itself. The choice always stays yours.
